Score is the sum of the applicant's MBE scaled score and Essay Exam score on the MBE scale (i.e., the MBE and the Essay Exam each count 50%). There is no passing score on either part alone. Essay Exam: Each question is scored 0 to 7. The raw score is the sum of the scores on each of the 12 questions, with a theoretical range 0 to 84. Raw scores are scaled to the MBE range of scaled scores using the formula below: SS = Xb + Sb/Sa (RS - Xa):
