ABOUT THE BAR EXAM

Format

Essay portion (Tues.)—15 questions (three hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon)

MBE (Wed.): 200 multiple choice

Subjects

• Conflicts of Laws
• Constitutional Law
• Contracts
• Corporations, Partnerships, and Agency
• Creditor's Rights, including mortgages, garnishments and attachments
• Criminal Law and Procedure
• Domestic Relations
• Equity
• Evidence
• Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct
• Practice and Procedure, Trial and Appellate, State and Federal
• Real and Personal Property
• Torts (including no-fault)
• UCC (sales, negotiable instruments, and secured transactions articles)
• Wills and Trusts
• Worker's Compensation

Grading

Passing score—a combined score of 135 or above

Essay portion—150 possible points (10 per essay)
Multistate portion--200 possible points

Combined score = [4/3 (essay total) + MBE score] / 2
