ABOUT THE BAR EXAM

Format

Each examination shall consist of five half-day sessions over a period of two and one-half days.
(1) Two of the half-day sessions of each examination shall consist of the MBE .
(2) One of the half-day sessions of each examination shall consist of two MPT items.
(3) Two of the half-day sessions of each examination shall consist of twelve essay questions prepared by the Board of Bar Examiners.

Grading

Scores on the written portion of the exam (combined MPT and essay) are scaled to the MBE range of scores using mean and standard deviation method.
Scaled written score is doubled and added to scaled

MBE score. Total score of 405 is required to pass.

The examinations shall be scheduled consistent with the dates designated by the National Conference of Bar Examiners for administration of the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) and the Multistate Performance Test (MPT).
